Building solutions for the environment.

Timber has many advantages over other construction materials. It has the potential to regenerate and therefore is a renewable resource. It is fully recyclable, waste efficient, biodegradable and non-toxic.

Converting raw timber into a useable building material utilises far less energy than most manufactured products including plastic, aluminium and concrete. Therefore it generates significantly less carbon dioxide in manufacture.

Four cubic metres of timber used for construction purposes binds one tonne of CO2 which, as a result, is not released in the form of carbon dioxide, therefore effectively protecting the environment.

To process wood as a construction material requires reasonably low amounts of energy. For example, the manufacture of cement requires around four times more, and steel as much as 24 times more energy than production of timber materials.

Timber provides material that is strong, light, durable and attractive. It is in the long-term interests of our company to act responsibly towards the environment and the communities in which we operate. We believe timber structures contribute to a more environmentally responsible economy and, in turn, provide our clients with a sustainable solution for commercial projects throughout the UK.

B & K Timber Structures adopts and applies Best Practice sustainability principles through all aspects of our processes, from raw material procurement thorough to manufacture, off-site and on-site assembly and installation. To download our Environmental Policy click here.

Offering only FSC or PEFC certified timber materials ensures that we, and therefore our clients, maintain a 'Green Supply Chain' and participate actively in the management of the world’s forests.
